COP30 in the Amazon. Can Brazil deliver?

World leaders are gathering in the Amazon city of Belém, Brazil, for the United Nations’ annual climate summit in November.

Their COP30 agenda is full. Negotiators are tasked with protecting the last remaining tropical forests, paying for global climate action, and accelerating the global energy transition.

A decade has passed since the landmark Paris agreement, when countries pledged to keep global warming well below 2 degrees Celsius, aiming for a safer limit of 1.5 C. Can COP30 get the world back on track?

Our specialist team will be on the ground in Belem to explore what’s at stake. We’ll be speaking to Indigenous leaders and forest communities on the frontlines, as well as environmentalists, businesses and elected leaders from across the world.
